How to reset or change WordPress password?
This problem arises when you have forgotten or lost your password for accessing your WordPress dashboard. So here are few options that you can use to recover your password.
- Reset your password via email:
You can easily reset your forgotten password via email by simply logging in to your WordPress dashboard.
Here are the following steps that you should follow:
Step 1: Go to your WordPress login page.
Step 2: Click on lost your password.
Step 3: Enter the Username or E-mail of your WordPress admin user, then click on Get New secret.
Step 4: Enter the Username or E-mail of your WordPress admin user, then click on Get New secret.
Step 5: Short in your New secret, confirm it, then click on Reset secret.
- Reset your password via phpMyAdmin:
You can also modify your WordPress password through phpMyAdmin.
Here are the following steps you should follow:
Step 1: Login to cpanel.
Step 2: Click on phpMyAdmin in the database section.
Step 3: Click on the name of your WordPress information.
Step 4: Now click on wp_users table.
Step 5: Click on Edit.
Step 6: Within the user_pass field, paste your password. Now From the drop-down, select MD5.
Step 7: Now you will see a successful message from phpMyAdmin that the information is updated

- Using the Emergency secret Reset Script:
If above methods doesn’t work then use Emergency secret Reset Script, which is not a plugin rather a PHP Script.
Here are the steps that should be followed:
Step 1: Copy emergency script from Emergency password script and put it into a file named emergency.php located in the root of your WordPress installation.
Step 2: Open http://example.com/emergency.php in your browser.
Step 3: Now enter the Admin username and new password. Now click on Update.A message will be displayed saying password changed.
Step 4: Now once you are done with step 3, delete emergency.php from your server.
Note:- Do not leave it on your server as someone else can use it to reset your password.
